Kielder Olympic Distance Triathlon

A brand new olympic distance triathlon based in the spectacular Kielder Water and Forest Park, Northumberland. The event will consist of a 1.5km open water swim, 40km road cycle, followed by a 10km trail run. Open to individuals and relay teams of three.

The event is to be held in conjunction with the Kielder Off Road Triathlon which is scheduled for Saturday 17th June.


Relay Category

For those who want to complete the challenge as a team, there is also a relay category open to teams of three. Each person competes in one discipline, for the swim, the cycle and the run. This is open for male, female & mixed teams - ideal for specialist swimmer/cyclists/runners or beginners, who would like to test themselves over a single discipline. 



1.5km Swim: Open water swim in Kielder Water, Europe's largest man made lake.

(Please Note: Under no circumstances is swimming allowed in Kielder Water at any time apart from the actual event).

40km Road Cycle: A superb route through the rugged border country. There are no major climbs although it is an undulating/hilly course. This whole route takes in some breath-taking views of Kielder Water & the Border country and the quiet roads have excellent riding surfaces.

10km Trail Run: The run will be off road (non technical) follow an out & back the shoreline of Kielder Water, taking in Bull Crag Peninsula.
