Ullswater Epic Lakes Swim
The Ullswater Epic Lakes Swim is event 1 of the Epic Lakes Open Water Swim Series. It takes place from Jenkins Field, in Glenridding, Patterdale and it is a celebration of being British.
Open Water Swimming Course
You can choose either the 500m, the 1 mile or the 'Iron' 3.8k distances, depending upon your age and ability. On the day, we will be hosting our annual village fete, which will include cake stalls, bat the rat, a coconut shy and a bouncy castle. There will also be a host of other sporting activities such as egg and spoon race and welly wanging. Bring the family, bring a picnic and have an EPIC day out in the Lake District.
What do I need to enter?
There will be the option when entering the mile or the 3.8km races to swim without a wetsuit (Skin Swimmer). You must have previous event experience of swimming without a wetsuit which must be provided at the point of entry. Tow Floats will be compulsory for all Skin Swimmers. For all other competitors wetsuits are compulsory. Shortie type wetsuits are allowed if you are an experienced swimmer, but we recommend full length arms and legs due to the cold temperatures. If you are susceptible to the cold, we would also recommend neoprene hats, socks and gloves. The minimum age for competitors is 11/14/17 for 500m/1mile/3.8km on the day of the event.
Included within your entry is:
- Ullswater Epic Lakes Swim Medal
- Swim Cap
- Chip timing
- Safety cover
- Event photographs free to download from our facebook page
