Wiggle North Series Along The Border (Extended)
Beginning in Chester, England the event contains the two existing routes that weave in and out of Wales, as well as a new 88 mile route that has been added. Crossing the border no less than 20 times for the new route, 10 times for the 62 mile route and 6 times for the 49 mile route, participants will take the very best from the English and Welsh countryside roads in this early season cycle.
Starting and finishing at the Countess of Chester Health Park in Chester, all routes begin together heading south towards Wrexham before the first route split for the 49 mile cyclists at Bangor-on-Dee, and then again a little further down the road prior to Horseman’s Green where the 62 and 88 mile cyclists will go their separate ways.
Extended – 88 Miles
Participants will make their way out of Chester and into Wales alongside all riders. As the route makes its way into the countryside cyclists will pass back into England and then Wales for an extended stay through Marford, Gresford, and along the outskirts of Wrexham. Once through Bangor-On-Dee the route will split off from the 62 mile cyclists and turn right towards Penley. Following this cyclists will hug the border through to Northwood where they will enjoy an extended stay in England heading south. The town of Wem is the southerly most point within this ride at exactly half way and 44 miles in before beginning the journey back to Chester via Wales on a number of occasions. Cyclists will enjoy the journey through Waterloo, Brownsbrook, and Welsh End before reaching Whitchurch and eventually rejoining the 62 mile cyclists at Higher Wych.
