We love Christmas as much as the next fitness fanatic, so we have picked 25 of the best fitness events and charity challenges in 2016 for you lucky people. We will be posting a mix of obstacle / mud runs, cycling sportive’s, running challenges, charity walks, swimming events, duathlons, triathlons and even some events for the kids!

Day 25 – Vitality British 10k London Run

The British 10k London Run is staged on the worlds greatest road race route through the heart of central London, passing many of the capitals truly world class historic landmarks. Around 25,000 runners from all over the UK and overseas will mix and match with thousands of charity and corporate team fun runners of all abilities raising millions of pounds for worthy causes.
Day 24 – Total Warrior

Bramham Park offers the most magnificent of settings. A spectacular stately home surrounded by rolling hills and woodland. This is one hell of a course. Don’t let the serene stately home setting fool you into thinking any different. Come prepared for 30 punishing obstacles and earn your free victory beer.
Day 23 – Mini Mile Races
Date: 16th April 2016 | Distance: 1 KM
The Mini Mile Races will be staged the day before the 2016 Brighton Marathon, covering a one mile distance at Preston Park, which is where the marathon starts. We expect over 2,000 children to take part!
Day 22 - Edinburgh Marathon

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is Scotland’s largest running festival of its kind with over 30,000 runners expected to take part on 28/29 May 2016. With 7 races on offer over two days including the marathon, half marathon, team relay, 10k, 5k and junior races, there really is something for everyone!
Day 21 - Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100

Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside.
Day 20 – TrekFest – The Beacons

Register now for the ultimate endurance challenge that will push you to your limits! TrekFest ‘The Beacons’ is growing bigger and better every year and we think it really is simply the best charity walk in the UK. You can register to complete 100km, 75km, 50km or 25km – choose a charity, choose a distance and take on TrekFest!
Day 19 – Bray Lake Swim Challenge

The Bray Lake Swim Challenge will be the 6th time this event has ever taken place and is expected to fill up with all the regional and surrounding swimming, triathlon clubs and also individuals entering to win the chance of being crowned Champion.
Day 18 - Grizedale Off Road Duathlon

A challenging off road event in the southern Lake District. The event consists of an 9km trail run, followed by a 24km MTB incorporating the North Face bike trails, followed by a further 6.5km trail run. The event is held entirely within the boundaries of Grizedale Forest Park, near Hawkshead & is completely off road. With stunning scenery & an extensive network of forest tracks & purpose built bike trails, this is a spectacular location for trail running & mountain biking.
Day 17 - Virgin Money London Marathon
Date: 24th April 2016 | Distance: 26.2 Miles
One of the most celebrated marathon event is set to return on April 2016! The race will commence in Greenwich Park and covers some of the famous sights before finishing off in front of Buckingham Palace. This huge fundraising event attracts over 35,000 runners each year and raised £46.7 million for charity in 2008.
Day 16 - Nuclear Blast
Date: 17th September 2016 | Price: £59 | Distance: 5 KM
Nuclear Blast is a 5km obstacle loaded multi-lap course over mixed, muddy terrain suitable for all levels of fitness. Fun, exhilarating and achievable, it’s the night-time Blackout course but in daylight! Excellent introductory experience for first time obstacle racers.
Day 15 – Wiggle Ups and Downs MTB

The Surrey Hills are oft-explored by our road-riding cycling cousins, yet there’s so much more to see off the beaten track on the trails and sprawling wooded sections of the rural area – taking in similar areas of the North Downs and beyond in the Wiggle Ups and Downs MTB sportive.
Day 14 – The Brutal Extreme Triathlon

The Brutal Extreme Triathlons start in the beautiful (and sometimes slightly chilly) Lake Padarn. The bike course goes through stunning scenery and over some challenging hills. And finally, the run takes you on a undulating trail round the lake and up and down Wales' highest mountain, Snowdon.
Day 13 – LittleLife Scootathlon

The LittleLife Scootathlon is a mini fun triathlon for children between the ages of 4 and 8 where they scoot, bike and run. Boys will race with Girls at the same time in various age categories.
Day 12 – Three Peaks Challenge

The Three 3 Peaks Challenge is without doubt one of our most popular treks and one of the toughest at the same time. Climbing the Three Highest Peaks in the home nations: Scotland, England and Wales. Starting with Ben Nevis before heading south for Scafell Pike and then finishing at Snowdon. The challenge is all the more tough as we complete the whole lot in 24 hrs! Now that is going to be challenging!
Day 11 – Dirty Destroyer 18k

Dirty Dozen Races is known for being the home of big obstacles but that’s just a small part of who we are. We started Dirty Dozen Races to help people lead a fitter and healthier lifestyle. With 3 distances to choose from; we offer great challenges for those just starting out on their fitness journey (Dirty Dash) through to those wanting to be tested to the max (Dirty Destroyer). All of our courses and obstacles are designed by the infamous ‘Beard’ who’s hell bent on helping you become unstoppable!
Day 10 – MBNA Chester Marathon
Date: 2nd October 2016 | Price: From £45 | Distance: 26.2 Miles
The MBNA Chester Marathon is the UK's number 1 road marathon, as voted by Runners' World in 2012 & 2013. With a spectacular start and finish at Chester Racecourse, the route passes all Chester's iconic landmarks, then heads out into the Cheshire & North Wales countryside, before returning along the banks of the River Dee for an unforgettable finish.
Day 9 – Dragon Ride
Date: 5th June 2016 | Price: From £47.50 | Distance: 100 – 305km
The UK’s most prestigious Sportive returns for its 13th year in 2016! The South Wales event will once again start from the picturesque Margam Park, Port Talbot, having moved there successfully in 2012. 2014 saw the introduction of a mammoth Dragon Devil distance, which will once again be part of the offering for 2016.
Day 8 – Ironman Wales

IRONMAN Wales is now well established as having one of the most challenging bike and run courses on the IRONMAN calendar. This is balanced Tenby's North Beach providing the most spectacular swim location, possibly of any IRONMAN event, and the inspiration gained from one of the most vocal and enthusiastically-supported events with tens of thousands of spectators who turn out for race day on all three disciplines.
Day 7 – Great Gorilla Run 2016

Since the first Great Gorilla Run in 2003, thousands of people have donned gorilla suits and joined the 8k fun run route starting at Minster Court in the City and passing some of London’s most iconic landmarks, including the Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral. Now in its 13th year, this incredible event has raised well over £2 million for gorilla conservation and poverty reduction projects in central Africa.

Day 5 – Womens Running 10K

Welcome to the Women’s Running 10K Race Series, providing race events solely for female runners of all abilities, to run together in a fun, friendly and supportive environment, in order to help you achieve your running goals. Last year we saw thousands of women join us across 10 locations around the UK to participate in our ever growing Women’s Running 10K Race Series, and we are hoping to see you at one of our 2016 WR10K race events! Day 4 – Dirty Weekend

Day 3 - London to Paris Cycle

Cycling from London to Paris is one of the great cycle experiences in Europe. Passing through picturesque Kent countryside, we cross the Channel and continue through the small villages and medieval market towns of Northern France. With long days in the saddle and some strenuous hill-climbs, the sight of the Eiffel Tower, our finishing point, will evoke a real sense of achievement. Our last day in Paris allows us to explore the sights and soak up the romantic atmosphere of this majestic city!
Day 2 - Brighton Marathon

The Brighton Marathon is one of the UK's favourite 26.2-milers. With a stunning backdrop of the sea in one of the country's most vibrant cities, the race gets bigger and better every year. Renowned for its buzzing atmosphere and roaring crowd support, the course winds through the city streets, finishing up on the spectacular Brighton seafront.

If you are looking for things to do in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, why not join thousands of people, aged 14 years old and above, at the Pure Gym Great Edinburgh Winter Run on Saturday 9 January. The 5k event is the first running event of the year and takes runners up and around Arthur’s Seat with fantastic views over Edinburgh Castle, the River Forth and Holyrood Palace.
