This challenge is one of Rat Race’s original endurance events, coming back for its 8th year they have now open entries for the event in 2016. You will be joining over 1000 adventurers who will all be running, cycling and kayaking across 105 miles of the Scottish Highlands.
Expect amazing scenery, a highly rated course and a gigantic personal challenge as you test your limits venturing through one of the most famous mountain landscapes in the world.
Fitness levels are going to be a consideration for this event, let’s face it, 105 miles in 2 days is a long way! With that in mind it's open to all ages, has a real ale bar and food available whilst you camp at the end of day 1, meaning it's not all for the hard core athlete. Plenty of people sign up in pairs to help motivate each other along the stunning route, this gives the added benefit of having a training partner before the race to help ensure you reach the right fitness level to really enjoy the challenge.
Day 1 is around 57 miles and takes you cycling from Nairn Beach to then Kayak across Lock Ness where you end running to the campsite. During day 2 you will cyling towards Fort William and then run or hike towards the west coast, the last kayak section then looms with a short run which heads to the finish line at The Isles of Glencoe Hotel.
You have the choice of completing this epic challenge as a pair/solo within 2 days or for the more extreme option, you can sign up to finishing within 1 day as a pair/solo. The even better news is they have a stepped pricing structure meaning the earlier you book the better discount you get!
