Pretty Muddy: Anna's Story

Anna Mawer is choosing to show cancer who's boss and taking part in the Cancer Research Race Series Pretty Muddy. We take a look at what this muddy run entails and Anna's motivation for signing up to take part.

About Pretty Muddy

Pretty Muddy is a is a 5k muddy run where women of any ability can climb, jog and walk all over cancer. The fundraising event is just over three miles and is designed to be for all ages and abilities so you can take part however you wish to show cancer who’s boss. The challenge is designed for everyone so no matter your age or ability you can run, walk or jog around this fun 5k run whilst raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Why did Anna Sign up?

We asked Anna what made her sign up and how she is going to stay motivated during her training;

What make you sign up to the Pretty Muddy Run in Preston?

"Everybody has been effected in one way or another by cancer, I want to help fight that by taking part in Pretty Muddy to raising money and awareness. I'm doing this for my nan and other family members who have sadly lost their life to cancer. I was with my nan during the last couple of weeks, when she died I lost my world. I really want to help others not go through that same pain. I will be taking part in this challenge mainly in her memory, I'd like to think she would be proud of me for trying to help others."

What will you do to keep you motivated through your training?

"I'm very determined to complete this and my aim to to run or jog the whole 5k run. A few years ago I did Ultra Collar White boxing training for cancer research and I learnt from that you need to be dedicated and not to give up. I have already been on a few sites and downloaded some apps for tips and training plans to follow."

What are you most/least looking forward to?

"I'm really not looking forward to the cold, it takes place in June so but i'm sure it's bound to be cold or raining in Preston! However it will all be worth it when crossing the finishing line, the slide right before the finish line will definitely be the best feeling"
